Hello, everyone!
I wanted to take a bit of time to go over a few general theories behind the way our home is set up.
Tetrapoli is a difficult city to get to 'come together', given that it is actually four cities, or now as per the books four districts, instead of just one that grew outward from a central point. This leads to a lot of separation as we all pick and then settle into each of the districts and could perhaps lead to division instead of any type of unity.
But we have a plan for that and want to make sure everyone understands why certain requests for pulldowns and/or the opening of certain businesses, might be turned down or steered in another direction.
We are putting all general pulldowns, such as streets and alleys, under the heading of just 'Tetrapoli'. Each of the districts will not have separate pulldowns for such as those. This is to encourage interaction and yes, while the logistics may not exactly fall into place, the theory is that if you are on the streets of the city, and so is someone else, then we can interact, which is something we wish to encourage.
We extend that further, in that we are trying very hard to not allow an overlapping or crossing of like businesses. Again, while in 'reality', each district might have its own cafe, its own Inn, its own bathhouse, this is not conducive to interaction between our home so we are not wishing to allow it. This will make it so that if you want to dine out, everyone has to go to the same place. If you want a bath, everyone has to go to the same place. If staying at the inn.... well you get the idea.
The districts themselves, separate us enough. This is how we're compensating for that, by putting a lot of thought into finding ways then to unite us.
Much love, family.

-Nov'-
-Great post as I think it definitely clarifies some of the City's locations , I know I get a bit confused at times. - It definitely gives a good unity in R/p where people are not scattered all over the place- though I always got the feeling that even though the City has the four districts - It is not that Large to begin with. [[ will be happy to be corrected on that as I am terrible with directions and distances ]]
-One thing that I would like to see - is a bit more of the Vosk League r/p. Between the Ships and the take overs from River Pirates and the concerns of the Merchants within the City - could make for some even more expanded role -play over the sea's and sea warfare- any thoughts?
-hugs- -Kare

In fact, I am taking a couple of days off of Gor (see other thread) to revitalize and destress myself and also come up with some ideas. I figure I could do this before Carnival so as to be in a right frame of mind. Sincerely, Maximus and his typist Rick

*Puts a line through cosmetician* I'm a cosmetician, I'm considering opening up "Simple Pleasures" in section 24 (Heiban) in the near future. Here's a sneak peak: ytravis.proboards54.com/index.cgi?(I'm also changing out some of the inventory as there appears to be some overlap with an established business already so the inventory is changing a bit) [wrong section in Heiban]

Let me know when you want it open.. (Pd).. *smiles*.. and Dara, thank you for adjusting inventory.. The cohesiveness of the home is coming along well and it is working out perfectly with everyone interacting by having our city's needs met at various places, each specializing, rather than competing.. The unity is awesome!..

Well here's the question. Is there someone that is doing Scribe work? If not I'll start an rp of learning to do so. Modifies to add, I know Atlas does legal scribe work, but he's not round much so is this possible?

Atlas has the city legal work, yes. Maximus also has a scribe for His house. What about specializing? Something that can be roleplayed out that differs, a subcaste that makes you unique and sought out in the city.
Examples: bookkeeper librarian historian land and deed management/real estate transfers
Just a few thoughts if it helps.. *s*

I'm currently doing accounting work for Malice's shipyard and Sh'elan's shop. But other subcastes for Scribes are also teachers, cartographers and copiers. I'm not sure if Ki is still interested in the scribe area or if she's considering something else. If she chooses accounting, it opens alot of doors for more interaction with others in the room, i.e. bookkeeping for businesses, drawing up slave papers for the slavers houses, that sorta thing.
